Should I use woven or nonwoven geotextile?

Date Issued:2024-09-07

To let you know well what is the different between NONWOVEN and WOVEN, Please find answer as below:

Woven vs. Nonwoven Geotextile Fabric: Key Differences

Geotextile fabric, used in various applications, can be woven or nonwoven. Woven geotextiles are made by weaving yarns, providing strength and stability, making them ideal for road construction and reinforcement projects. However, they are less permeable and not suited for drainage. Nonwoven geotextiles are created by bonding fibers and are permeable, perfect for filtration, drainage, and separation tasks. They are commonly used for projects like retaining walls and sandbags.

Woven vs. Nonwoven Characteristics:

  • Woven: Strong, low permeability, ideal for reinforcement (e.g., highways, driveways).
  • Nonwoven: Permeable, suited for filtration and drainage, but less strong.

Applications:

  • Woven: Roadways, parking lots, stabilization.
  • Nonwoven: Drainage, soil separation, filtration.

Woven geotextiles offer durability, while nonwoven types excel in drainage and permeability applications.
